Space Place welcomes anyone who requires a low-sensory environment, including neurodivergent, Takiwātanga Autistic people, and sensory sensitive people.

This low-sensory hour features reduced lights and sounds throughout the galleries, a reduced-sensory Planetarium experience, a chill-out space, and crafts.

Drop in each Hāterei (Saturday) of the April School Holidays for fun, family-friendly crafting inspired by our new kororā display. Make kororā bookmark corners and other creative take‑home crafts. Fun for the whole whānau, best suits ages 8+

Flight Club

3… 2.. 1… Blast off! Tamariki learn all about the forces of flight at Space Place’s 4-hour school holiday workshop featuring rocket experiments, vortex cannons and beyond.

From making everyday objects fly with a leaf-blower, to observing what happens when you put a marshtronaut (marshmallow-astronaut) into a vacuum chamber, tamariki will come home brimming with new knowledge!

Paint our feathered friends with artist and educator, Joe McMenamin. See Wellington Museum’s new kororā little blue penguin display and learn about our native manu in the Attic, before learning the basics of painting with Joe. 

All tamariki will be able to take home their painting.  

Aprons are provided, but tamariki are advised to wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy.
